Before Our Time skills found in the Blogosphere: Filet Crochet

One of the best things about receiving comments from our readers is the chance to pop over to their blog or website to have a look around.

Last week we received a lovely comment on our giveaway post from first-time commenter Rositta from Ontario, Canada. Popping over to have a look at her blog I saw that she truly possesses skills from before our time.

Look at this beautiful filet crochet tablecloth. This is a photo of it in its just finished state before it has been washed and blocked.

I was so pleased to see this beautiful handmade work. A true heirloom item that preserves skills and knowledge from before our time.

You can see this work and Rositta's other accomplishments over at her blog She Knits Too.

Wow! That is really beautiful...and I imagine it would have taken hours to do?

It even sways my previously stated opinions about crochet! I don't think Skyhooks-listening girls would have had the patience to do something like this.

;)

Megan, thank you so much. You have made my day. It is not the only one I made but it was by far the most time consuming. It took me of and on about a year to complete...ciao

Wow!! now that is some crochet!
I see I am going to have to hone my crochet skills even more that I had intended.
Only a year to complete! I fear it may take me that to do a tray cloth!

Isn't that beautiful! I get the feeling that would be pretty difficult to do, because it would be hard to make a mistake and not have it show. I have a name piece made out of filet crochet that my Mom ordered from someone. Very special.

That is so lovely, even through I crochet, never in a million years could I have crocheted something so delicate. I would say you need good eyesight to do such fine work. Thanks for sharing.
